[[Concepts]] # Knowledge Cycle See also: [[Collector's Fallacy]] References: - https://zettelkasten.de/posts/knowledge-cycle-efficiently-organize-writing-projects/ The knowledge cycle is the idea that you can't simply read a thing or google it, and assimilate the knowledge. Instead you must: 1. **Research** for new material, where we have to scan and select what’s useful and what isn’t, 2. **Reading** the findings, thus increasing our _temporary_ understanding based on the capacity of our short-term memory, 3. **Taking lasting notes** to feed your [[Second Brain]] and thus _permanently_ increase our knowledge. A particularly useful exercise while writing the [[Evergreen Notes]] is to think about any related concepts or notes that you can incorporate into the new notes. This will both reinforce the new ideas, and help build out your [[Zettelkasten]] links.
